Thanks for the answers, I was a little worried about the watchguard support, still am concerning the time it takes to get a response from them, but now after approximately 16 hours of setbacks, the machine is running as it is supposed to on 11.8.įor those that suggested a clean configuration, it was the first watchguard here, and it had a default configuration.
HOW TO BACKUP DOLPHIN IMAGING 11.8 UPGRADE
Well it finally got done, had to revert to a special upgrade 11.7.4 CSP, then to 11.8. Rather than upgrading, have you tried firmware reseting the box to factory state, and just loading a new instance of 11.8 onto it with a new config? That might rule out whether or not it was a config issue. First, I'm sorry you're having this experience, and hopefully we will help you find the issues soon.Īs far as help, most upgrade issues are usually configuration conversion problems. If there were a large set of ppl who's upgrades totally failed like yours, I think it would have been identified more quickly. so we did a lot of testing of the upgrade process, and while there always are a few issues found, they were mostly side cases. Internally, we had multiple private internal preview builds that 100s of our staff ran, and we did a limited beta to customers. Of course, I have a relatively simple configuration file on most devices though, since I run a pretty basic lab. I have only upgraded my own XTM appliances to 11.8 (both physical and virtual) about 5 separate times (I have a few in my lab), and I never had a problem. that said, I don't think they are purposely lying or stalling. Hey, my name is Corey Nachreiner and I'm WatchGuard's Director of Security Strategy and Research (essentially, the company's security expert), so know I'm obviously biased. My question to you is have you upgraded to 11.8 on a watchguard 5 series, and have you had any problems? Are they lying to me stalling when they say they have not seen this problem? Is this normal with watchguard devices (if so I may have to just return it, which I am tempted to do anyway just because of the slowness of their tech support.) that is a total of at least 8 installs total, (I have tried downloading packages several times with different devices and connections too, so that is not the problem) I have a hard time believing that since I have tried the upgrade two different ways, on two different devices, two separate times for each way on each device, and another 2 times with tech support with the same result.

Watchguard says they have not seen this before, that this is a new situation. Here I am still working on it, after hours of working alone, waiting for tech support, or working with them, and still it doesn't work. Anyway, I talked to the technicians again, and again they cannot get it to upgrade either. and again I had to get in touch with support (why does it have to take so long to get support, they definitely need to fix that too). Deciding it was a hardware problem they RMA the device and I had another brand new one the next day.

Once on the phone with them, they were friendly and understanding, but couldn't get the upgrade to go through either. I then called tech support, which was a horribly long process, then next day they finally talked to me. I then recovered the box and tried again, same problem. The first upgrade to 11.7.4 worked fine, but hung on 11.8. It cam pre-loaded with Fireware 11.7.3, Which had to be upgraded to 11.7.4, then 11.8.
